Best PA Harley Cruise Roads

Whether you’re a seasoned rider or you just got your first bike, the best feeling comes when it’s time for that first trip of the season. Gearing up, bringing your bike out of the garage after the winter, revving up and cruising out — nothing beats it.

Maybe you want to try something new this year to make the most of the warm weather. If you need some motorcycle road trip ideas for this summer, be sure to check out these top 10 cruise locations in Pennsylvania.

1. PA Route 6

This 50.1-mile route takes you through northern PA and boasts many sites along its path, with each having the potential to be the highlight of your trip. Landmarks include:

  • Pine Creek Gorge: Better known as the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, this landmark is located in the Tioga State Forest.
  • Kinzua Bridge State Park: You probably guessed from the name — its iconic feature is the skywalk. Venture out to see a sweeping view of the Kinzua Valley. Try not to shake too much in your riding boots!

2. Route 655 Through Kishacoquillas Valley

As one of the best motorcycle cruise ideas in PA, this route is “one of the most peaceful places left on this earth.” Highlights include:

  • “The Big Valley”: Residents nicknamed this valley, which has the second-largest Amish population in the state.
  • Belleville: Views of the countryside and mountains surround this town’s stores and homes.

3. Town and Country Motorcycle Ramble

One of our longer routes at 113 miles, this loop begins and ends at Carlisle Events’ Fairgrounds. Be sure to stop by:

  • Waggoner’s Gap Hawk Watch: Pull off the road and take in a 180-degree view of the Cumberland Valley, letting the wind run through your helmet hair.
  • Pine Grove Furnace State Park: You’ll find plenty to do with two lakes, the Appalachian Trail Museum and the historic Iron Furnace if you need a break.

4. West Branch Susquehanna River Byway

Running parallel to the Susquehanna River, this 72-mile route has both natural and historical attractions. Some highlights of the course include:

  • Bilger’s Rocks: Take a tour of this 300-million-year-old rock outcropping.
  • McGees Mills Covered Bridge: Built in 1873, it is the only covered bridge in this part of the Susquehanna River.

5. Conestoga Ridge Road

This route stretches about 80 miles along Route 23 in Lancaster County. Be sure to stop by:

  • Historic Poole Forge Park: See one of the last iron ore mansions or take a walk through the gardens.
  • Goodville: This quaint town has many produce and local craft stands. Enjoy your treats there — they may not survive the journey home in your saddlebags.

6. Grandview

Looking for something a little less rural? This route takes you along Grandview Avenue, McArdle Roadway and Sycamore Streets in Pittsburgh. On your urban adventure, be sure to check out:

  • Mt. Washington Overlook: Take in a panoramic of downtown Pittsburgh and the Golden Triangle — the point where the Monongahela and Allegheny rivers meet to form the Ohio River.
  • Monongahela Incline: Unfortunately, you’ll have to leave your bike for this one. But, it’s the oldest and steepest railway in the country, so it’s not a site you want to miss.

7. Gateway to the Endless Mountains

This route goes through parts of Route 6 of Wyoming County. For some entertainment along the way, consider checking out:

  • Dietrich Theater: In the town of Tunkhannock, this historic two-screen movie theater was built in 1936.
  • Bird Song Winery: Housed in the countryside of Sullivan County, sample some wines and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere — but only if you’re staying overnight.

8. Delaware River Valley

On our shortest cruise at 17 miles, you’ll ride Route 611, Little Creek Road and Belvidere Highway. To learn more about Wyoming County, be sure to visit:

  • Welcome Center in Riverton: Find out about current events, news and other entertainment by stopping in Riverton.
  • The Wild and Scenic Delaware River: The Delaware River covers roughly 14,119 square miles throughout five U.S. states: New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and, of course, Pennsylvania.

9. Exton Bypass

The hills and open landscapes along Route 30 of Chester County offer unique sights and experiences. Some interesting pitstops include:

  • QVC Studio Tour: Get a glimpse into the world of a live news broadcast from its Observation Deck, which happens to be 50 feet above the filming area.
  • American Helicopter Museum: Check out any or all of the 35 helicopters on display.

10. Bucktail Trail

A 106-mile route on Route 120, you’ll ride through both Clinton and Elk Counties. The most notable landmark on this route is Winslow Hill. Although there are other sites to visit, this one is the most worthwhile — watch for wild herds of elk, which give the county its name.
