]]>Whether you’re a newer rider or have been riding for many years and want to connect with other female riders, joining a female motorcycle club near you is a great option. You can find a great club to get to know other women motorcycle riders in the area, whether you’re looking for an all-female motorcycle club or a more specific demographic such as female motorcycle clubs for black riders.
Locating a riding club can be pretty easy, but finding one that’s exclusively for women can be a little bit harder. Of course, the internet is a great resource and a good place to start your search.
While you’re searching, you may find a wide variety of motorcycle clubs in general, and each organization may have different values and goals for the group. With so much variance in groups in the area, there’s a good chance you’ll find an all-female motorcycle riders club!
If you’re having trouble finding a club for women riders, why not start one? Chances are there are other female riders nearby who would love a newer club that’s just for women. Like other activities and sports, women experience riding in the community differently than men do. Having other women riders who understand and relate to your own experiences can make this hobby even better.
One of the best reasons to join a riding club of all women is for the chance to connect. Whether you want to swap tips, are looking for a group to ride with or want to meet other people in the area with the same interests, a riding club is a great solution. Join an existing club or start your own, and you’ll have a great place to do the thing you love with other women.
By joining an all-female motorcycle club, you’re connecting with other women who have likely had similar experiences to yours. If you’re having a problem, you can ask for advice and know you’re getting it from a perspective similar to your own. It is also super rewarding to share your own experiences in order to help someone solve a problem that they’re having!
With more and more women making up motorcycle ownership in the country, the month of May is the time to celebrate female motorcyclists. Whether you want to join a riding club or commemorate the time in another way, it’s a great month to connect with other women riders.
If you’re not ready to commit to a riding club, you can still take advantage of other options. Visit your local Susquehanna Valley Harley-Davidson to meet other women riders in the area.

]]>Learn more about current female motorcycle rider statistics and how the motorcyclist demographic has changed below.
The Motorcycle Industry Council recently surveyed thousands of motorcycle owners across the United States. The survey results show that women make up about 19 percent of motorcycle owners — or about one in five owners!
When you break it down by generation, the percentage goes up even more. For owners in Generation X, women make up 22 percent of motorcyclists. For the Millennial generation, it’s 26 percent, and the study provided even more information that you can learn about motorcyclists.
We’re so excited to see more women join the motorcycling community. With the freedom, excitement, adventure and fun that comes with motorcycling, this hobby has never been exclusively for men.
The number of women Harley riders and those on other motorcycle types has been growing over the past 10 years or so. About 10 years ago, the number of women who owned motorcycles was only about 10 percent.
So, what’s the reason for the rise in women motorcycle owners? Since younger women are buying motorcycles more frequently than women in older generations, the percentage of women in motorcycle ownership will go up. If the number of men who buy motorcycles stays about the same, the ratio will change.
We anticipate the percentage of female motorcyclists to continue rising and expanding. In the next few years, we may even see women making up one in four motorcycle owners.
If you’re already a female rider or thinking about buying a motorcycle for the first time, you’ll find lots of ways to connect with other female motorcycle riders. ]]>The post Motorcycle Safety Tips: Mounting & Dismounting with a Passenger appeared first on Susquehanna Valley Harley Davidson.
]]>Introduction: We have researched varying methods to accomplish this. The most popular seems to utilize left side mounting and dismounting with bike in vertical position.
Rider mounts first, with bike in vertical position, handlebars straight, bike in neutral, front brake applied and both feet firmly planted on the ground. Once set, have passenger put hands on your shoulders from the left side, place left foot on the floorboard or peg, lift themselves up, and slide their leg over the back seat and sit down with both feet on the boards.
Another method is to have bike resting on kickstand, this distributes weight onto kick stand and not onto rider’s legs.
Con: Rider will need to lift bike into vertical position with both people mounted. Similar mounting process as described before, rider first then passenger, once both mounted rider lifts bike into vertical position then raises kick stand.
Tip: To make this lift easier try turning handlebars to the far right before lifting bike.
Dismount is in reverse passenger first, then rider, remember to have bike resting on kick stand before anyone dismounting. This method gives you the best control of the bike, and avoids nasty accidents.
Tip: Try moving handlebars to the far left this may assist passenger in their dismount.
Tip: Before passenger mount or dismount rider should lean up toward tank to allow more space for passenger.
If passenger may have mobility concerns, with the kickstand down method try having passenger mount first onto front seat position then move to back position, then rider would mount from left side sliding leg thru and across seat.
Another method is to mount from the right side (seen described as cop style) pro: to this rider or passenger are not exposed to oncoming traffic during mount or dismount. Con: exhaust pipes usually on right side and right mount or dismount movement could upset bike while on kickstand.
With any of these methods, the passenger should always communicate with the rider before mounting or dismounting by verbal communication or a tap on the shoulder to ensure the rider is in their ready position.
I WANTED TO WISH ALL OF YOU A SAFE AND ADVENTUROUS 2019 RIDING SEASON.
THANKS,
SCOTT (SCOOTER) MAY
